Demo mode and your license
Demo mode
Until you enter a license key, PianoFlex runs in demo mode. Demo mode is the full program, with three differences:
- Each session lasts 20 minutes. A session starts when you start PianoFlex, or when your music program loads the plugin. After 20 minutes the sound fades out, and the yellow line tells you the session is over. In your music program, the plugin is then silent, also when you export. Start PianoFlex again, or load the plugin again, for another 20 minutes. Demo mode never expires, so you can try PianoFlex for as long as you like.
- Eight keys are silent: C♯1, F2, A3, D4, G♯4, B5, E6 and G7. They're grayed on the keyboard at the bottom of the window, and they make no sound, whatever plays them: your keyboard, the keys on the screen, a MIDI file, ComposerFlex or your music program. Render to audio, Record and exporting in your music program all work, with those keys silent in the file too. A license key brings every key back.
- "(Demo)" appears after PianoFlex's name at the top of the window, with "Demo · 8 keys silent" and the minutes you have left beside it, and two buttons: Buy…, which opens our website, and Enter license key…, which opens the license box.
Everything else works in demo mode: every preset and slider, layers, Compare, rendering and recording, and saving your own presets. So any presets you make while trying PianoFlex are still there after you buy.
When a session ends, the yellow line says so, and how to buy a license key: Buy… at the top, or flexmusiclabs.com/buy.
Entering your license key
After you buy PianoFlex, you get your license key in two places:
- The page you land on after paying shows it, with a Copy button.
- Your purchase email has it too.
A key is 16 digits, like 1234-5678-9012-3456. If you lose the email, flexmusiclabs.com/key finds your key again from your email address and the Payment ID in your receipt.
- Copy the key, from the page after paying or from your purchase email.
- In PianoFlex, click Enter license key… at the top of the window. (It's also in the About box.)
- Click Paste. It finds the key in whatever you copied, even the whole email. If what you copied holds your email address, Paste fills that in too.
- Check that the email address is the one you bought with, or type it.
- Click Unlock.
You can also type the key. Only the digits count, so dashes and spaces don't matter.
The license box closes, and the yellow line tells you who PianoFlex is licensed to. The About box shows this too.
- You only need to enter the key once. It's kept for your Windows user account, and it unlocks both the PianoFlex program and the plugin.
- If you bought a key for both programs, the same key also unlocks ComposerFlex.
- There's no account to create and no online activation. PianoFlex never connects to the internet. You may use your license on all of your own computers.
-
On a new PC, enter the key again. Or copy the file
license.txtfrom your old PC to the same place on the new one. To find it, type%APPDATA%in File Explorer's address bar and press Enter, then open theFlex Music Labsfolder.
If your key isn't accepted
The license box tells you why:
- "This key has 15 digits, and a key has 16": a digit is missing or extra. Copy the key again, or click Paste.
- "A digit in this key is wrong, or two are swapped": compare it with your purchase email, digit by digit, or paste it instead of typing.
- "This key doesn't go with this email address": enter the email address you bought with, the one your key email was sent to.
- "No license key was found in what you copied": what you copied had no key in it. Copy the key from your purchase email again, then click Paste.
- "Enter the email address you used to buy" or "Paste the license key from your purchase email": one of the two boxes is empty.
- "This key is for ComposerFlex, not PianoFlex": you've entered your ComposerFlex key. Enter it in ComposerFlex instead.
- "This key is not for PianoFlex" or "This key is not for this version of PianoFlex": check that it's the key from your PianoFlex purchase email.
- "The key is right, but it could not be saved": Windows didn't let PianoFlex save the key. The rest of the message says why.
If it still won't unlock, write to [email protected] and include your purchase email. License-key problems always get a reply.
