DrumFlex vs GetGood Drums
GetGood Drums is a brand with several drum libraries. This page covers Modern & Massive 2, its flagship plugin, which needs no Kontakt, set against DrumFlex. Both play drum parts from MIDI, at very different scales. Modern & Massive 2 has 9 snares, 7 kicks, 21 cymbals, a full mixer and more than 1,500 MIDI grooves, on Windows and Mac. DrumFlex is a drum kit that's modeled rather than sampled: kits for each style, a 14.2 MB download, $79.
What they have in common
- Windows 10, 64-bit, with a VST3 plugin in each. DrumFlex also runs on Windows 11.
- Nothing else needed. Modern & Massive 2 needs no Kontakt or other software. DrumFlex needs no other program either.
- Drum parts from MIDI. Modern & Massive 2 comes with 1,500+ MIDI grooves. DrumFlex opens and plays a MIDI file, and plays from an electronic drum kit that sends General MIDI drum notes (it doesn't read the hi-hat pedal's controller or cymbal chokes by aftertouch) or from General MIDI drum keys on any channel.
- A mix and effects. Modern & Massive 2 has a full mixer. DrumFlex has a level for each part of the kit, a room and an EQ.
Where Modern & Massive 2 stands out
- Mac as well as Windows, with AU and AAX plugins as well as VST3.
- A bigger kit. 9 snares, 7 kicks, 4 sets of toms (13 toms) and 21 cymbals.
- Fluid+. A feature of its sampler engine that, the maker says, models how drums, cymbals and recording spaces react.
- A full mixer. 100+ mix presets, effects, and multi-out routing. DrumFlex has one stereo output.
- Grooves. 1,500+ human-played MIDI grooves. DrumFlex has no library of grooves.
Where DrumFlex stands out
- Small. It downloads at 14.2 MB and installs at 31.4 MB. Modern & Massive 2 needs 20 GB installed, and 40 GB while it installs.
- Every piece, tuned. Stick hardness, tuning, ring, pitch glide and snare wires, then tuning, ring and muffle for the kick, snare and toms, the kick's beater, the sizes of the kick and toms, a room and an EQ.
- No hub, no online activation. A license key and your email address, entered once for each Windows user on each computer, no account, and one license for one person, to use on all of their own computers. DrumFlex never connects to the internet. Modern & Massive 2 is installed and activated through Cradle Hub, needs an internet connection, and counts each activation toward 3 machines.
- $79, where Modern & Massive 2 lists at $219. GetGood Drums showed $179 in a Black Friday sale on 7 November 2026.

Owning both
Modern & Massive 2 is a big library with a mixer, and DrumFlex is a small instrument you can open and play at once, so some players could keep one for each job. DrumFlex's demo, which you can download and try before you buy, is here; GetGood Drums' page for Modern & Massive 2 doesn't list a trial, so check its site for what it offers. This page doesn't compare how they sound. That's for your ears.
