MIDI files: play, render and make videos
PianoFlex Player can open any MIDI file, such as a song from ComposerFlex or one you've recorded or downloaded, and play it on Session Player. It can also save the song as an audio file or make a video of it.
Opening a file
Click Open MIDI…. Windows' box for opening a file appears. If you have ComposerFlex, it starts in the folder of ComposerFlex's songs, with the newest first. Choose a file and click Open.
The message line then says the file is open. Opening another file stops the one that's playing.
Playing it
- Click Play, or press Space, to play the song from its start. The keys on the screen light up as it plays.
- Click Stop, or press Space or Esc, to stop it. Every note is let go at once.
When the song ends, the message line says so. You can change the Room and the Volume while it plays.
Saving it as an audio file
Click Render audio…. The Player writes the song as an audio file, played on Session Player in the room you've chosen. The message line shows how far it has got. To stop it, click Stop render: nothing is saved.
The file is a 24-bit FLAC file, at -14 LUFS, the loudness that music streaming services play at. If the last notes are still sounding when the song ends, the file fades them out. It's saved in the PianoFlex folder in your Documents, in a folder called recordings, and named after the MIDI file and the piano, for example Little_Song_Session_Player.flac.
When the file is written, a box says Audio saved and gives its full place on your PC. Click Play to listen to it, or Open in File Explorer to see it in its folder.
Making a video
Click Make video… to make a song video of the file. See Song videos.
